Official welcome !

Hi guys!

I would like to officially welcome you all to my blog- Boujie on a budget. I am extremely ecstatic to be starting this journey with you all and I have high hopes that we'll have one wonderful and prosperous relationship moving forward.
Wow, there is so much to say and such limited time but I will do my utmost best to squeeze in every bit of information that I feel will be much needed moving forward. I have been thinking about what this week’s blog will be based on and after a while I decided that let me talk about something that I relate to the most which is being a student and always having a budget.

On some ground rules... I would like to state that the views shared on this blog and comments posted are not necessarily views shared by my self and everyone involved in the production of this blog and we would like to state that people's views shall remain anonymous and we urge that you be sensitive to the vies of others. Remember, just because it's your view doesn't mean it's right.

Firstly I am a very dedicated second year in Library and Information Science student at the University of the Western Cape. So the purpose of this blog is for us to have a conversation on a subject that I feel is of great importance and that is "Boujie on a budget".

First and foremost, the term "boujie" derives from a ghetto sense where people think that girls of a low class are trying to imitate sophisticated, successful women. However, it has developed to a term whereby young women actually live the fabulous(boujie) lifestyle on a more affordable and friendlier budget.

How I wish I was writing this while sipping on some luxurious wine on some island but unfortunately not... I am just on campus, but I am having some affordable sushi with a smoothie - which I find to be quite boujie.

Every week I will be posting more about cost friendly yet glamorous ways on living that you desire! I will try to make it extremely versatile so that it sparks each and every one of my follwers and fellow bloggers.

Hope that you will love and enjoy everything that is to follow.

Xoxo
Love Elle

A boujie way of celebrating 🍾🍾

Hi guys! This past weekend has been all sorts of busy but very fun, from attenting a pre birthday celebration to a 21st birthday party and an after party! In between all of that fun I've had to buy presents and outfits to look good but I've also had to spend every cent that I have properly and strategically. After the weekend I had u thought to myself that it would be such a great idea to talk about spending for birthday dinners and lunches with gifts included. Every girl wants to look gorgeous around other people, especially if it's around a crowd that knows you very well. The first thing one needs to do when going to such celebrations is to still stick to the theme if specified, so let's talk shopping for the occasion. When shopping for an occasion, it is quite important to buy something that you feel comfortable in. Yes some things might look nicer but comfort comes first because no one likes wasting money on clothes that don't suit them. Secondly, it ...

Boujie on a budget... Summed up like a real budget πŸ’ΈπŸ’²πŸ’Έ

In every blog post that I have posted I try by all means to make it easy and understandable to everyone who might come across and read the blog but I always stick to one specific topic. This week though will strictly be a switch up as well as a guideline of everything connected to being a boujie spender on a tight budget The first and most important thing one should try to avoid is purchasing something they don't like just because it's cheap!! Do not... DO NOT turn yourself into a cheap-skate for the sake of saving and budgeting.  The problem behind buying something just because it is cheap is that you hardly see any value in it because more than often, chances are you will complain about it everytime because it will not be something you are satisfied with! Another problem with buying the cheapest thing on the isle is that not times, these cheap things we buy are hardly of any good quality. This easily applies to make-up, shoes, alcohol, hair (mostly weave and wigs). An...

Book review: To Kill A Mockingbird

T o Kill a Mockingbird is a fictional book which was published in 1960- now known as classic of modern American literature- by Nelle Harper Lee. With its instant success and being translated in almost 40 languages it has been read in many high schools in America and other countries as well. Harper Lee's book has been greatly recognized for  its delicate treatment of a child’s awakening to issues such as racism, class and prejudice during the Great Depression (1929–39) in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama.  This extremely thought-provoking story is mainly centered on the trail of a black man that Atticus Finch is defending who is being accused of sexually assaulting a white girl. In the course of the trail and through her mischievous adventures like the exciting visits they make to Boo Radley who is seen as odd but is he really … and observing her small town, Scout learns that everybody deserves to be treated with dignity,...
